Beethoven's heroic third symphony changed the face of music forever. Shortly after the work's premiere, its supporters asserted that "after a few thousand years have passed, it will not fail of its effect," a claim that nearly two centuries later shows little sign of being disproved. For this all-Beethoven program, George Shangrow also leads the exciting Consecration of the House Overture and the third piano concerto, for which he is joined by world-renowned pianist Povilas Stravinsky.
