| FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN (1732-1809) Die Schöpfung Sung in German. There will be one intermission. Catherine Haight soprano Howard Fankhauser tenor Brian Box baritone ORCHESTRA SEATTLE SEATTLE CHAMBER SINGERS George Shangrow conductor Inspired by Handel's great oratorios (such as Messiah) and using a libretto drawn from the book of Genesis and Milton's Paradise Lost, The Creation is Franz Joseph Haydn's crowning achievement. Filled with vivid musical tone-painting, brilliant arias and powerful choruses, no work captures more eloquently the glory of nature and of its creation, from the first beams of light piercing the firmament, to the great whales in the depths of the ocean, to the dawn of humanity itself.
