The holiday season begins with three Italian masterpieces: Corelli's "Christmas" Concerto, Vivaldi's magnificent Gloria and Respighi's Laud to the Nativity, a cantata based on a text by 13th century Franciscan friar Jacopone da Todi with choral writing influenced by Gregorian chant.
